Curriculum

Information about curriculum

EI Mindspark's curriculum is carefully crafted to align with all international curriculums and standards standards while prioritizing adaptability to local contexts. It focuses on building foundational skills in mathematics, progressing from basic to advanced topics, ensuring a gradual and structured learning path for students. The curriculum is highly adaptive, adjusting in real-time based on a learner's specific needs and pace. This enables personalized learning experiences, allowing students to receive the appropriate level of challenge or support as they move through different topics. Furthermore, Mindspark leverages data-driven insights to identify common learning gaps and misconceptions, allowing for targeted interventions and focused practice. Its curriculum design encourages conceptual understanding over rote memorization, using a blend of visual aids, engaging activities, and contextually relevant examples to deepen student comprehension.

Pedagogical design

Mindspark's pedagogy, based on constructivist and cognitive theories, uses adaptive AI to match tasks to a student’s Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD), promoting growth through slightly challenging exercises. Inspired by Bloom’s Mastery Learning, it ensures concept mastery before advancement. Regular assessments provide feedback, aligning with Hattie’s feedback research, while collaborative tasks build social skills, reflecting Bandura’s Social Learning Theory. Gamified elements enhance motivation, making learning engaging and effective.

User interface
Example 1: Simplified Navigation Initial Issue: Users, especially younger students, found it difficult to navigate through multiple layers of menus to access their lessons. Improvement: Introduced a simplified dashboard with clear, large icons for each subject and a prominent search bar to quickly find specific lessons or activities. Example 2: Adaptive Interface for Different Age Groups Initial Issue: A single interface design was not equally intuitive for all age groups. Improvement: Developed age-specific UI variations, such as larger text and more visual cues for younger students, while older students received a more detailed and content-rich interface. Example 3: Enhanced Progress Tracking Initial Issue: Teachers and parents found it challenging to track student progress and performance. Improvement: Implemented detailed progress dashboards that visually represent student achievements, learning paths, and areas needing improvement. These dashboards use graphs and color-coded indicators for clarity. Example 4: Interactive Help and Support Initial Issue: Users had difficulties accessing help when they encountered problems. Improvement: Integrated an interactive help system with FAQs, video tutorials, and a chatbot to provide instant assistance. This system is easily accessible from any page within the platform. Example 5: Mobile Optimization Initial Issue: The platform was not fully optimized for mobile devices, limiting usability for students using tablets or smartphones. Improvement: Redesigned the UI to be responsive, ensuring a seamless experience across desktops, tablets, and smartphones. This included touch-friendly controls and simplified layouts for smaller screens.

Data-driven product development
Interactive Storybooks Initial Issue: Young learners had difficulty reading storybooks on the platform. Improvement: Introduced voice overs for all storybooks, where a narrator reads the text aloud as the words are highlighted. This helps children follow along and develop reading skills. Instructional Guidance Initial Issue: Young students struggled to understand written instructions for activities and games. Improvement: Added voice overs that read the instructions aloud, ensuring students know what to do even if they cannot read the text. This includes interactive prompts that guide them through the steps of an actual story Vocabulary Building Initial Issue: Difficulty in learning new words and their pronunciations. Improvement: Implemented voice overs for vocabulary exercises where words are pronounced aloud, and sentences are read to show context. This helps students learn correct pronunciation and usage. Math Problems Initial Issue: Young learners found it challenging to understand written math problems. Improvement: Added voice overs for math problems and solutions, helping students comprehend the questions and how to approach solving them.

    Large implementation example

Mindspark has undertaken several large-scale projects that demonstrate its impact in diverse educational settings. One notable project was conducted in partnership with the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) across multiple Indian states, including Rajasthan and Delhi. This project used Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) to assess the effectiveness of Mindspark in government schools, revealing significant learning gains, especially for low-performing students. In Delhi, for example, students using Mindspark saw an average increase of 0.37 standard deviations in Math and 0.23 in Language over six months, highlighting the platform’s capacity to improve foundational skills in under-resourced settings. These findings positioned Mindspark as a highly cost-effective tool for enhancing learning outcomes, particularly in challenging. Another impactful initiative was the Quality Education India Development Impact Bond (DIB), where Mindspark was part of a collaborative effort to improve primary education outcomes across India. This project, backed by various philanthropic and governmental bodies, reached over 300,000 students, demonstrating scalable improvements in literacy and numeracy. By integrating Mindspark's adaptive learning technology into classrooms, the DIB enabled personalized learning experiences tailored to each student's pace and level, which proved especially effective in low-income schools. The evaluation showed notable gains and underscored Mindspark's potential to transform traditional teaching methods into adaptive, data-driven models that can be scaled across diverse educational contexts.
