Our approach includes: Diverse Data Collection: We gather training data representing varied linguistic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds, focusing on public Transitional Kindergarten through K-8 students. This broad spectrum enables our AI to assess diverse student writings effectively. Inclusive Development: Our team comprises educators, engineers, and AI experts from diverse backgrounds. We engage community stakeholders, including teachers and experts from minority and low-income groups, to gather insights and feedback on the tool's functionality and its impact on different student groups. Equity-Focused Features: The AI tool identifies educational disparities by providing teachers with data on students' needs, directing resources to those who might be overlooked. Features like uncertainty ranges in scoring highlight variability, encouraging teachers to consider more than just scores in evaluations. Educator Training: We offer training to help educators use the AI tool effectively, ensuring they understand its benefits and limitations. Continuous Improvement: Our development includes ongoing feedback from users and stakeholders, refining the tool to adapt to emerging educational needs and diversity challenges.
