Information about curriculum
Our English for schools course is designed to develop the critical language skills students need for academic success while fostering cultural awareness and curiosity. Lessons topics are cross-curricular by design, drawing on subjects such as STEM to provide practical vocabulary and skills relevant to students’ wider studies.
The curriculum emphasizes formative assessment to track progress, alongside structured activities that promote metacognitive awareness and the development of independent study skills.
The contexts covered in the content are age-appropriate and globally diverse, engaging students with themes that incorporate elements of cultural interest to keep them invested in their learning.
Speaking practice is extended through AI-powered conversations that provide personalized feedback, while teachers gain clear, actionable insights through a dashboard that highlights performance and supports targeted intervention.
Pedagogical design
Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) emphasizes that learners acquire language through meaningful communication in authentic contexts, with lessons designed to simulate real-world interactions so that language is used purposefully. Building on this, Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) engages students in completing outcome-focused tasks that require negotiation of meaning, which is critical for developing fluency. Alongside these approaches, guided instruction and scaffolding play a key role, as teachers provide structured support and gradually reduce it as learners gain independence.

User Experience
User interface
We ensure an intuitive user interface through continuous usability testing, learner feedback loops, and iterative design improvements across both Classroom AI and Addi (Efekta’s AI learning companion). Our platform serves millions of students and teachers worldwide, so simplicity and clarity are critical: interfaces are designed to minimize cognitive load, automate routine tasks, and provide actionable insights at a glance.
For example, Classroom AI underwent multiple rounds of usability testing with teachers, resulting in dashboards that summarize 100+ learning metrics in a clear, prioritized format, giving teachers instant, practical recommendations instead of overwhelming data. Similarly, Addi was refined through learner testing to ensure conversations feel natural, with adaptive prompts and real-time feedback that guide progress without frustration.
By embedding usability testing as a constant process we have built a platform that is both powerful and easy to use, enabling adoption at scale across schools, corporations, and governments.

Data-driven product development
Evidence and data are at the core of how we design and refine Efekta’s Learning Platform. With over hundreds of millions of hours of learner interaction data and real-time insights from 100+ learning metrics, we continuously analyze how students engage, where they struggle, and what accelerates their progress. This evidence directly informs improvements, from refining Addi’s adaptive feedback to enhancing Classroom AI’s precision in identifying learning gaps.
For example, in Brazil’s Paraná State, evidence of a 32.5% test score improvement drove deeper integration of AI-powered fluency tracking into classroom practice. In Rwanda, data showing a tripling of students achieving B2 level proficiency informed enhancements to industry-specific training modules that boosted employability outcomes.
By systematically feeding outcome data back into product development, we ensure every update is evidence-based, measurable, and aligned with our mission to deliver scalable, personalized education that transforms lives.
Geographic focus
This product is designed for countries where there is a shortage of qualified English teachers, where class sizes are so large that personalized learning is limited and teachers don't have enough time to focus on their students.

Efekta (part of EF Education First) draws on EF’s long-standing experience and global operations in language education
Established in Sweden in 1965, and teaching online since 1996, the EF Education First Group is one of the largest language training providers in the world. EF operates 600 language schools globally and has offices in 100+ countries, with more than 50,000 employees. Each year, EF trains, assesses, and certifies millions of adult and young learners. Having trained over 24 million people, including over 4 million high school students in Latin America and 30,000 people in Rwanda, EF is the trusted language partner for more than 3,000 organizations and governments worldwide.
Efekta itself has implemented transformative teacher training programs with Ministries of Education across the world. We train public school teachers and students at any scale: ranging from 500 to over four million learners.
Below are two specific examples of relevant project experience that underscore Efekta's expertise in effective, large-scale training and learning programs.
We believe the results speak for themselves.
CASE STUDY: LATIN AMERICA
Scaling English Proficiency for Millions in Brazil
English has the power to transform lives. This belief drives our passion for re-inventing and transforming how English is taught in high schools globally. We fuse the best human teaching with the most advanced learning technology – creating an engaging, student-centered, and effective approach to learning English.
In Latin America, Efekta supports over four million secondary school students and their teachers.
In just two years, we have clear evidence that studying with Efekta leads to better results.
The average scores in the independent Paraná State English Exam improved by 32.5 % in just two years – based on over 750,000 students.
Student and teacher engagement is consistently at >96%.
With over 3 million students and teachers engaged, and our programs expanding across Latin America, EF continues to drive large-scale impact, proving that English proficiency unlocks new opportunities for education, employment, and global connectivity.
The results speak for themselves, which makes us feel confident that we are on the right path to bring quality education to students in Parana.” - Roni Miranda Vieira, Secretary of Education of the state of Paraná
CASE STUDY: RWANDA
Transforming Futures: Helping Rwandan Youth Find Their Voice in English and Build Confidence
In a three-way partnership with the Rwanda Development Board and the Mastercard Foundation, Efekta designed and delivered a nationwide English & Communication Skills program, reaching over 37,000 youth (24% above target) and representing over 6,000 organizations in Rwanda.
Participants completed 1.1+ million English Lessons and 185,000+ teacher-led classes.
359% increase in learners reaching B2 proficiency, from 8% to 39%.
Learners report that the program has improved work performance, career opportunities and changed their outlook on life and future.
The program has contributed to job mobility, career growth, and employment stability, with 66% (3,012) of survey respondents securing new jobs, promotions, internships, starting new businesses or sustaining employment, and an additional 9% (535) of respondents, mainly students, being able to secure ‘gig’ work due to improved English.
When asked to what extent the program contributed to their improved work situation, respondents rated it an average of 8 on a scale of 10.
This reconfirms the effectiveness of the initiative in improving employability and highlights the program’s role in both improving earning potential and employability, advancing careers and providing stability in the workforce.
Additionally, managers and learners confirm that the program leads to higher productivity and better service quality across their organizations, strengthening teams, communities, and organizations.
